Frequently Asked Questions
What do you need to program a Mercedes spare key?
The EIS/EZS (electronic ignition switch) removed from the car, plus any working key if you still have one. If you have no working keys that is fine — just send the EIS. Send the original metal emergency key too and we will cut the blade to match.
I have lost all my keys — can this still be done?
Yes on FBS3 cars (most Mercedes models between roughly 1996 and 2014). We program from the EIS on the bench, so no dealer visit is needed. If you have no metal emergency key at all, send the driver's door lock cylinder and we will cut a key from its bitting.
Do you need the steering lock (ESL/ELV) as well?
For all-keys-lost on W204 and Sprinter platforms, yes — the ESL is usually needed to complete the job. For an add-key, the EIS and one working key are enough.
Is FBS3 the same as FBS4?
No. FBS3 (up to around 2014) keeps the immobiliser data in the EIS, which is why keys can be programmed on the bench. FBS4 (2015 onward, sometimes called FBS4 / third-generation encryption) stores encrypted data across several modules and is dealer-only for key programming. Send your registration and we will confirm which system your car uses before you pay.
Can Keyless-Go be added?
No. We only program standard FBS3 keys. If the car did not leave the factory with Keyless-Go it cannot be retro-added, because Keyless-Go relies on several other modules in the vehicle.

How long does it take?
